Character Expressions

The expression sheet that I handed in today. These were lots of fun to do, I just wish I had narrowed it down a bit to just 8 drawings and also how I layed it out is just terrible lol.

I feel like the more extreme expressions could be a whole different character, and they almost dont fit in with each other...not sure if that makes sense..but no one else seemed to think so when I asked for some advice so I just left it!

Habit : Addiction to Design

My good friend Emily W. has started an amazing blog to help keep students and artists connected with cool events and inspirational people within the GTA. I was lucky enough to have been asked to be a contributor, and I have just entered in my first post :) There are several people who regularily update the blog, which offers a diverse range of insight, from fashion design, graphic design, photography, film and animation!

Please check out the Blog, add it to your favourites, follow it, subscribe, do whatever you can to help us get this blog up and going! We really would like some more followers, and its a great way to get connected with anything artsy in the GTA!

Also check out Emily's Website, shes very talented and her work is just amazing! Shes currently in a design program, but her talents stretch across the board, from photography, to print making, and she even makes some beautiful jewelery that is available to purchase off of her website :)

Crayolaa pencil crownss

When I was little I used to call pencil crayons crowns and my sister would get so mad at me, but I honestly couldn't say crayons!
Then yesterday I found a stash of them in a giant Spacemaker (that was the cool pencil case to have.) and I wasn't feeling good so I doodled this instead of doing homework :). Her legs are funny.

Contest Entry Coloured

The last character design of my 17th year on the planet! I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to check out this design and help me fix very obvious errors. Thanks to everyone who helped me on Facebook (Leanne, Mehreen and Shamar), Victor (who checked it out on my blog and left a very helpful comment, comments make me so happy!), Dakota who made me feel much better about the design :D, and Kristen who helped me for about a half hour of her life and even corrected stuff on photoshop!

haha that felt like an academy awards speech..yupp I'm a nerd!

It is definitely not perfect, and some of the things that i know should have been fixed that manny of you pointed out to me..i didn't fix (out of laziness and a rush to get this done before school started!)

I named him Demetri, after the best comedian in the world, Demetri Martin. I listened to him alot while drawing this!

Rough Entry

Before i submit this as a final piece for a character design contest, I just wanted to get some feedback on it from anyone who cares to please help me out :)

Criticism on stuff like proportion, or even just the design of certain things would help. I will be fixing his feet, because they do look pretty small, and I just suddenly realized how odd the combination of a wrench and test tube is...

hes supposed to be a scientists assistant.

I think I'll give him some arm hair too.

8 Days...

untill we start school :) i'm too excited/nervous.

came home from drawing a few hours ago, so heres a lil sumthin sumthin.

so blurry from my cell camera, so theres 2 versions, photoshoped, and non-photoshoped.

hahaha i'm such a keener. this acctually is the most wobbly grandma ever! i'm only ok with the last 3 drawings, looks better than the rest of it!
i did this for fun.. i need a life :( gave me an appreciation for any animation i see. its hard work D: these 10 drawings took me oh so very long to do. i only did it b/c i was stuck at work with my mom waiting for the storm to die down.
umm...next year will be fun :

Grandma?

A native grandma, I've been drawing her all day trying to rotate her (trying to avoid some work for the wedding), but now i need to get ready to go do some life drawing :D

Got back in from drawing about and hour ago, didn't really produce anything I liked but it was good practice. I got pretty slow again :(

Well anyhoo here is a sketch I did of my sister a couple of weeks ago, while I was practicing doing caricatures :) (sorry about the colour!)

used that site (copied Glen Keane's drawings so i could get some practice on Tarzan!)

Honestly though, just from mindlessly copying a few of Glen Keane's sketches, I really feel like it transfered into my life drawing. I feel like it really came across in the portrait I did (maybe i'm the only one that gets this!)

and the bike in my biker picture is something i found on google but cant link b/c i cant find it again :(

Emily Haines! I've had a metric song stuck in my head for about a week now :s I'm very happy with this piece :) played around with the opacity alot, and added texture.

Digital Painting

Just practicing with my tablet, the last one was my first attempt. The top image is what i just completed. I'm pretty pleased with it because i deffinately see improvement, and i also learned so much about how to use my tablet! Its not perfect, but i'm happy. :)

Taking a break from the tablet, my eyes and hands hurt! :P

Btw, sort of figured out that a tablet it just like painting, I learned that from watching a few videos of Bobby Chiu painting on YouTube :P

Hopefully my next post wont be a frilly princess!!
